





Before contacting your Promotional Gift Supplier, it is worth taking time to consider a few things. You may of course know exactly what you want which is great but if not, a few moments consideration may assist your Supplier in finding a few different ideas for you.
Firstly, when the gift will be used ie for a Conference, at an Exhibition, within the Company, for a mailing or for a prestigious gift. This may seem an obvious question but for mailing and exhibitions, you will not want anything too heavy or bulky. In fact a bag may be the answer as visitors will not only use this to carry other exhibitors' giveaways but may re-use it afterwords. A mousemat can cost as much as a metal keyring but doesn’t look half as prestigious.
Secondly, the aim or requirements of the product are different. Do you want your item to sit on a desk and be kept within the office environment? If this is the case, be sure not to choose something which your Client will want to take home & give to their partner or children. On the other hand, you may be happy for your Client to use your gift everywhere they go ensuring that your Company is advertised nationally or even globally.
There are several practical pieces of information which would help your Promotional Gift Supplier considerably in sourcing your ideal gift.
The first 3 points are quite important as your supplier may be able to source from the Far East if you have sufficient time and quantity. Personalisation is important as if your logo has to be reproduced as a full colour process, this could limit the range of products for consideration. Printing in one colour is obviously much easier and cheaper to reproduce. The size & complexity of your logo is also another factor; reproducing a crest on an area of 10 x 10mm is not going to happen without some compromise or you could end up with a blob. Reproducing a crest on paper or engraved on a glass gives a much better finish.
Finally, one point to consider is rather a negative one but there may be some business gifts you just don't want to use. If you have used wine sets for your last campaign, your Clients will not really want to receive another one. Similarly, there are only so many umbrellas or bags you want to keep. Mind you, no-one can have enough pens – one of the most popular & useful promotional gifts of all time.
